Connected services and agent tools

Last updated: 11 September 2026

Agents on sundae_bar can use tools. A tool is something an agent does beyond writing a reply: searching the web, or in future reading from an account you have connected, such as your calendar.

This page lists every tool an agent can use today, what each one sends out, and what it sends back. We keep it separate from our privacy policy so it can stay current as we add tools, which we intend to do gradually.

Before we make a new tool available we will update this page. Tools that need access to one of your accounts are never switched on for you automatically. You connect them yourself, one at a time, and you can disconnect them at any time.

Available now

These tools need no account and no sign-in. They are available to any agent that is set up to use them.

ToolWhat the agent sendsWhat comes backProvider
Web searchA search query written by the agentPublicly available web contentPerplexity, via our AI gateway
Exa searchA search query written by the agentPublicly available web contentExa, via our AI gateway
Tako searchA search query written by the agentPublicly available web contentTako, via our AI gateway

One thing worth understanding about search. The query is not simply what you typed. The agent writes it, based on your conversation, so it can contain details you mentioned earlier. If you would not want something sent to a search engine, it is best not to put it in a conversation with an agent that can search.

Not available yet

These are built but switched off. They will not appear as options and no agent can use them until we turn them on and update this page.

ToolAccess we would ask for
GmailRead-only. Reading messages, never sending or deleting
Google CalendarRead-only. Reading events, never creating or changing
SlackRead-only. Reading messages in channels you choose

What will change when these arrive

We want to be straightforward about this in advance, because connecting a personal account is a bigger step than running a web search.

You connect each one yourself. Nothing is connected by default. You will be asked, per service, and you can say no and keep using everything else.

We do not hold the keys. When you connect an account, the access is held by Arcade, the service that brokers these connections. We never receive or store your password, and we never receive the access token itself.

What a tool reads becomes part of the conversation. This is the part people do not expect. If an agent reads three emails to answer your question, the content of those emails is stored as part of that conversation and is sent to the AI model again each time you continue it. It is not a one-off lookup that disappears afterwards.

That has two consequences worth stating plainly:

  • Content from a connected account is covered by the same retention we apply to conversations, described in section 12 of our privacy policy. Disconnecting the account stops any further reading, but it does not remove content that a previous conversation already contains. To remove that, delete the conversation.
  • The same content may appear in our error and monitoring records if something goes wrong while an agent is running.

You can disconnect at any time, from the connections screen. That revokes our access immediately. Deleting your account revokes every connection as part of the deletion.

Tools that are part of sundae_bar itself

Agents can also use tools that stay inside our platform and send nothing to a third party: searching our own agent and skill directory, creating and editing agents, setting up schedules, and asking you a question mid-task. These carry what you write into the platform, and nothing from your other accounts.
